The Fee

Spiritual direction is a meeting that resists being priced. Still, to honor the time it asks — and to keep cost from becoming a barrier — the fee is one you set for yourself, according to your means.

Each session runs about 55–60 minutes, and we usually meet once every two to four weeks.

There is no income check of any kind. Look over the table below and simply settle on the band your heart rests in easily.

Amounts are in Canadian dollars
Annual gross incomePer session
Up to 60,000$20
60,001 – 80,000$30
80,001 – 100,000$40
100,001 and above$50

If even the lowest band is difficult, let’s talk. I don’t want cost to be the reason anyone puts off being accompanied.

A Note on Language

English is my second language. In our sessions that means I tend to move slowly, to leave room for silence, and now and then to ask you to say something again so that I truly understand you. In spiritual direction, that unhurried listening is not a drawback. It is part of the gift. Much of this work is simply attention — staying quiet long enough for what matters to rise to the surface, and trusting that God is already speaking beneath the words.

There is something else in it that I have come to trust. A companion who remains a little bit of a stranger in the language is a quiet reminder that none of us is fully at home here yet. We are all, in the old and biblical sense, sojourners — pilgrims passing through, our hearts restless until they find their rest in God. I do not need to say this aloud for it to be true in the room. Sitting with someone who listens carefully, from just outside the language, can itself become a small witness to it.
